GeoNorth Blog

Over the years here at GeoNorth, we've learned a lot. We find that the more informed your clients are, the more aware they become of what their needs are, and what we can do to help them. With this in mind, we've created a bit of a resource in a weblog of information to help raise the bar of development education.

What Are 'Moments of Truth'?

BusinessDirectory.com defines a Moment of Truth as ' In customer service, instance of contact or interaction between a customer and a firm (through product, sales force, or visit) that gives the customer an opportunity to form (or change) an impression about the firm'.  Although he coined the phrase originally, Jan Carlzon, a former executive who managed Scandanavian SAS Airlines, didn't necessarily come up with today's modern definition.  He used the term to mean those moments in which important brand impressions are formed and where there is significant opportunity for good or b

A Brief Look at Guerilla Marketing

The concept of guerilla marketing was invented as an unconventional system of promotions that relies on time, energy, and imagination, rather than a big marketing budget.  Typically, guerilla marketing campaigns are unexpected and unconventional, potentially interactive, and consumers are targeted in unexpected places.  The objective of guerilla marketing is to create a unique, engaging and thought-provoking concept to generate buzz, and consequently turn viral.  The term was coined and defined by Jay Conrad Levinson in his book Guerilla Marketing.  The term has

Exploding the Myths of Customer Satisfaction Measurement

The ‘pursuit of excellence’ will many times fail to include your company’s management process for measuring and managing customer satisfaction.  ‘Voice-of-the-customer’ feedback is certainly critical to directing improvement processes, but most companies use unreliable or invalid data.  Any company that is serious about being customer-focused, and delivering true, world-class quality, must themselves be world-class in their approach to customer satisfaction measurement (CSM).  Unfortunately, many myths exist on this topic that hinder companies from becoming world-class in the

Marketing in a Down Economy

I know it's hard to swallow.  But in a down economy, marketing efforts should be increased.  Yes, increased.  There, I said it.  The elephant in the room has been identified.  And now for the oxymoron; when the economy is down, we should all be tightening our belts.  "Cut costs, and we'll be better prepared when the crisis passes".  "We've got to pay attention to our overall profitability now more than ever".  And so on and so on.  I would challenge you though, to do this each and every day, whether eco
